Fall Prevention – Free Anti-slip Socks
Walsall Council’s campaign targeting fall prevention
Fall prevention matters, and simple things can make a significant impact.
Walsall Council is distributing hundreds of pairs of anti-slip socks FREE of charge in its latest campaign to help reduce the number of falls by residents in the Borough.
This compliments an initiative giving free ferrules, the rubber base found at the end of walking sticks and frames. Preventing avoidable falls caused by poorly maintained walking aids. Simple measures in fall prevention can make a big impact.
When compared with standard socks, anti-slip socks reduce the likelihood of a fall. Available in a range of sizes, with thick soles. The socks have silicone tread on both the top and bottom. As a result of the continuous grip even if the socks twist around on the feet, they effectively help prevent slipping. The socks fit comfortably and are made from stretchy polycotton with a mesh netting to provide comfort to anyone with ankle and leg swellings.
